Web design

Designed around the business. Not around a template.

Every website has a job to do. Before deciding how it should look, we work out who is using it, what they came for and what needs to happen next.

Websites we’ve designed

  • Property
  • Car care & accessories
  • Burger restaurant
  • E-commerce
  • Estate agency
  • Bakery
  • Accountancy
  • Café
  • Beauty clinic
  • Grill restaurant

“We came to Hone for one thing, but they helped us see the whole business differently. They looked at our website, branding and content, then gave us ideas we wouldn’t have considered ourselves. It felt like having someone inside the business, not just another agency.”

Where we begin

Your website has one job. We start by working out what it is.

Not with a template, or a visual trend. With four questions.

  1. 01The business

What it does, what it needs and what makes it different.

  2. 02The customer

Who is visiting, and what they came to find.

  3. 03The purpose

The job this website has to do for the business.

  4. 04The action

What we want visitors to do next.

What we do

Web design services, built to work.

  • 01

    Website strategy

Working out what the site is for

Before anything is drawn, we agree what the website has to achieve and what visitors need from it.

    • Target audience
    • Competitor review
    • Website goals
    • Conversion goals
    • Customer questions
    • Required functionality
    • Existing analytics, where available

    How it all fits together

What lives where, how pages relate, and how people move from arriving to acting.

    • Sitemaps
    • Navigation
    • Content hierarchy
    • Information architecture
    • Customer journeys
    • Page relationships
    • Calls to action

    UX

    How it works for people

We find the places people hesitate or get stuck, and design them out, especially where the business makes its money.

    • Friction
    • Booking flows
    • Checkout flows
    • Forms
    • Mobile behaviour
    • Accessibility

    UI

    How it looks and feels

The visual layer, built from the brand rather than a trend: considered, consistent and responsive down to the smallest detail.

    What the site says

The best layout can’t fix a page that doesn’t answer the visitor’s question.

Featured work

Designed for the phone, not squeezed onto it.

Most visitors arrive on a phone, often in a hurry. So we design the mobile layout deliberately, with its own priorities: what someone on the move needs first, thumb-friendly actions and pages that load fast on a weak signal, rather than a desktop page shrunk until it fits.

Our process

See it working before it’s built.

We test ideas early, while they are still quick to change, so the finished site is built on decisions that have already been tried.

  1. 1WireframesThe structure, before any styling.
  2. 2Interactive prototypesClick through it before it is built.
  3. 3FeedbackYou, and ideally real customers, try it.
  4. 4IterationsWe refine until it works as it should.
  5. 5Launch, then improveOnce real customers use it, we see what works and keep improving it.
  • Analytics
  • Conversion review
  • Content updates
  • UX improvements
  • Performance

  • Further iterations

Questions

FAQs

Where do you start with a new website?

With the business, not a template. We work out what the business does, who is visiting, the job the website has to do and what we want visitors to do next. Only then do we decide how it should look.

Will the website work properly on phones?

Yes. Most visitors arrive on a phone, so we design the mobile layout deliberately, with its own priorities: what someone on the move needs first, thumb-friendly actions and pages that load fast on a weak signal.

Can I see the website before it is built?

Yes. We start with wireframes, then an interactive prototype you can click through. You, and ideally real customers, try it, and we refine it before any building starts.

Do you design online shops?

Yes. We design the whole journey, from product discovery and product pages to the basket, checkout, payments and what happens after the order arrives.

What happens after launch?

Launch is the start, not the end. Once real customers are using the site we can review analytics and conversions, update content, improve UX and performance, and keep iterating.

Do you only work with London businesses?

We’re London-based and love working with local businesses, but we work with clients across the UK. If you’re outside London, we’re still happy to chat.

Want to talk it through?

The website should not just look like the business. It should help the business work.

Tell us about the business and what the website needs to do. We’ll take it from there.
